PVC
CPVC
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) and CPVC (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride) are often recommended for use in applications within corrosive environments due to their exceptional resistance to most mineral acids, bases, salts, and aliphatic hydrocarbons.
Both materials have excellent strength and rigidity, and their light weight makes installations easier than those with heavier metal options. CSSI designs and fabricates durable and cost-efficient exhaust systems from PVC and CPVC duct. Type I PVC and CPVC sheets are used for specialty tanks, hoods and other custom equipment.
PVC can be used where temperatures do not exceed 140 degrees Fahrenheit, and CPVC holds its characteristics up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Both are self-extinguishing with a flame spread index of less than 10 and a UL-94 rating. CPVC also meets Clean Room Materials Flammability Test Protocol (FM 4910).
Contact us with questions on whether PVC or CPVC will be appropriate for your chemical concentrations and environmental conditions.

Does CSSI require a deposit?
Custom orders that total $1,000.00 or more require a 50% deposit .
How do you attach the fittings and dampers?
The fittings and dampers are best attached via plastic welding. If this option is not available, the fittings can be glued to the existing system using PVC cement.
What material are your standard fittings and dampers made from?
Our standard fittings and dampers offered for sale on this site are made from PVC and CPVC extruded duct and Type I PVC and CPVC sheets. The sheeting is 1/4 inch in thickness and the duct wall thickness varies with the diameter, approximately 1/4 inch or less.
What Schedule are the fittings and dampers?
Schedule 40 and 80 are a standardization that applies to PVC pipe and does not apply to duct or sheeting. Pipe is typically used in applications where there is high pressure. Duct is for use in low pressure ventilation environments. The fittings and dampers offered here are designed for low pressure ventilation (gas stream) applications.
Can these fittings and dampers be used with Schedule 40 and 80 pipe?
These fittings and dampers can be attached to Schedule 40 and 80 pipe and will exhibit similar corrosion resistant and fire retardant properties. The fittings are not appropriate for use with Schedule 40 or 80 pipe in high pressure situations (see above).
